Dr Mick Grimley PhDMick is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Educational Studies and Human Development at the University of Canterbury, having graduated with a PhD in Education from the University of Birmingham. Before joining academia, he gathered 20 years experience teaching, as well as a stint as a police officer. Mick’s research interests include the enhancement of motivation and engagement in learning, the application of educational technology, and, more recently, the application of computer games and 3D virtual worlds in education. |

Trond Nilsen MSc(Hons) BScTrond is a freelance researcher, software engineer, and game designer. He graduated MSc(hons) in computer science from the University of Canterbury and HIT Lab NZ in 2006. Since then, he has been engaged in a number of projects related to serious games with other researchers at Canterbury. Trond is AGR’s technical expert, and, in addition to his research and technical roles, maintains a blog discussing a wide range of topics called Meme Hazard. |

Dr Richard Green PhD ME BScRichard completed his PhD in computer vision at the University of Sydney, in which he developed an augmented reality system which tracked and recognized human movement, Parkinson’s Disease, and biometric identification. During his PhD, Richard won the IEEE CSVT Transactions Journal Best Paper Award. He now lectures in computer science at the University of Canterbury and the HIT Lab, and heads the Computer Vision Research Lab with teaching and research interests in computer vision, computer game engines, AI and biomechanics. Richard is AGR’s business expert, and his many years of experience have included managing businesses in the domains of computer vision, internet marketing, and banking software. |
